My Hope Is You

Psalm 25:4-5

"Show me your ways, O LORD,
teach me your paths;

guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long."

I've been marvelling at what I have thought of as a persistent peace on the inside of me. When I read this verse, I realized it was actually hope. What's the difference? From my perspective, they are similar. This is my working definition of hope: Hope is peace about the future. At any rate, These two verses sum up what I have been experiencing. God has been showing me how to please Him and how to follow Him; I have been worshipping Him as my Savior; and this has placed in me a deep sense of peace about my future.

I recently realized that my anxieties were rooted in my own selfishness. There was a fear in me that I would not get what I wanted. I given up my wants and rested in the faith I have that God "rewards those who earnestly seek him." (Hebrews 11:6). It is foolish for me to insists on what those rewards should be. I am a friend of God and that is the greatest reward I could wish for.
