Just Believe

Mark 5

35While Jesus was still speaking, some men came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. "Your daughter is dead," they said. "Why bother the teacher any more?"

36Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, "Don't be afraid; just believe."

I was so impressed by this passage I just felt I had to post this.

"Don't be a afraid; just believe."

On the surface, this is a wonderful command from Christ. It is a wonderful response to a severe problem: This man's child was dead. There is no more serious issue than death. No crisis is more terminal than someone dying. Yet, Jesus encourages this man to believe. If this is Christ's answer to a trial of this magnitude, then I'm sure it is his advice for any problem of less severity.

It is also compelling that Christ sought to protect this man's faith. He saw that this man had the faith to believe that his daughter would be raised and did not want Jarius to listen to his friends and give up his hope. Christ does not silence the friends, He just encourages Jarius. I also do not think that Christ would have done this if the faith of Jarius was not required to do this miracle! Think about that! God may be trying to solve your problem today, but needs your faith to do it! Don't be afraid; just believe!
